Day 1

The workshop kicks off Thursday, June 9th at 6:00 p.m. with a Welcome Reception on the Alexander's lush Garden Terrace. Share a drink and get to know Bob Bly and the AWAI team ... your mentors for the next three days.

Day 2

You'll start your day with a complimentary buffet breakfast at 8:00 a.m. And then, at 8:45 sharp, we'll get right to work.

Then, we'll break into 2 or 3 groups to do Peer Reviews on everyone's letters, before coming back together for two more special presentations.

First, Joan Damico and Bob will show you how to keep in touch with contacts to keep your name in the forefront and prevent hot leads from getting cold. Chris Marlow will then join them to cover the way other freelance copywriters are pricing their services today.

We'll break for dinner and then meet at 7:30 p.m. for a roundtable discussion with  AWAI's panel of experts. They will answer all of your questions -- from pricing to networking to follow-up techniques. You'll have a chance to talk with each of our experts throughout the session.

Day 3

Saturday is a big day, so we're starting early. Your complimentary breakfast buffet will begin at 7:00 a.m.

Then at 8:00, Bob Bly, Chris Marlow, and Joan Damico will discuss the importance of finding your niche market, carefully examining the pros and cons of being a specialist vs. a generalist.

At 3:30, it's back to the drawing board -- where you'll continue working on your personal self-promotion letter. As always, workshop leaders will be close by.

Then, we'll break into groups for your final Peer Review, where AWAI workshop leaders will give you feedback on your writing.

Afterward, you'll have an hour and a half to rest. We'll meet in the lobby at 7:00 sharp for Dinner on the Town -- our treat!

Day 4

Sunday breakfast will be served from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., giving you an extra hour to sleep. Then we'll meet for a Panel Review of sample self-promotions. You'll be given the opportunity to submit samples of your work and receive feedback from our panel of experts.

At 10:00, Ilise will share more networking secrets to help you get clients.

Next, "Freelance Copywriting Best Practices"with Bob Bly and the gang. We'll cover everything -- cover letters of agreement, spec work, retainers, advances, billing, credit and collections, revisions, how to handle disputes, coping with dissatisfied clients, royalties, graphics, and more.
