Dear Reader,
I’ve got great news… and I've been patiently waiting to share it with you for more than two weeks now!
But now that all the details are finally finished, I'm happy to say I can share with you proven copy tips and techniques used by “A-list” copywriters who have made millions for their clients.
And I don’t mean a small handful of tips like just two or three… I’m talking about HUNDREDS of supercharged strategies that can catapult your copywriting career faster by the time this year comes to an end.
What’s more, you’ll also have the opportunity to submit writing samples to ready-to-hire clients looking to scoop up the newest copywriting protégés.
How’s all this possible?
Five words: FastTrack to Copywriting Success Bootcamp.
If you weren’t able to attend Bootcamp in person, you missed an event many of the 400+ attendees called the “BEST Bootcamp ever.”
Some, like Becky Stark Tumidolsky and Patricia Moyer, have already used their Bootcamp lessons to land new clients. Patricia used advice from Joshua Boswell to connect with a new agency via LinkedIn, while Becky used tactics from Ilise Benun’s pricing session to negotiate a deal with a new client for TWICE what she had originally planned to charge.
Other attendees have written in to tell us how charged up, supported, and inspired they feel, like Mel Spera, Marjorie Strebe, and Tony Souza:
“Bootcamp is over until next year. As a first-time attendee, I have the virtual T-shirt that says ‘I Survived AWAI Bootcamp!!!’ Home now and trying to sleep but ten thousand ideas are just pouring out of my ears. I wish the world worked like AWAI, whereby if one rises, we all rise. Never met a group of individuals who care about my well-being and welfare. Just need to do a shout-out to the AWAI staff and presenters: WHOOOORAH!!!! Can't wait until next year!”
— Mel Spera
“I came to Bootcamp totally overwhelmed and unprepared to launch my copywriting career. I’m leaving with clarity, focus, and direction. I know where to focus my energy when I get home.”
— Marjorie Strebe
“Once again, I want to thank you and everyone else at AWAI for such an amazing Bootcamp. There was so much fantastic information it may take me all year just to be able to digest it all. Then it'll be time for Bootcamp again!
“I honestly believe by this time next year, I will look back and see last week as the major turning point in my career. I now have the tools, contacts, and confidence I need to thrive.”
— Tony Souza
Now, if you know anything about Rebecca and me… you know we want to do everything in our power to ensure all AWAI members get every chance possible to succeed.
It’s something we pride ourselves on. Nothing pleases us more than to see our members living a writer’s life that’s rich in freedom, money, and time for the things that are important.
That’s why I’m writing to you today.
We know there are quite a few people in our world who wanted to attend Bootcamp, but just couldn’t make it happen. If that’s you, here’s my great news…
Your “Second Chance” For a Life-Changing Bootcamp Experience is Here
Right now, you can experience the career-boosting benefits of Bootcamp at home, on your own schedule.
We call it “Bootcamp on Demand” and it’s our way to give you every presentation, every tip, every secret, and every selling strategy revealed at the FastTrack to Copywriting Success Bootcamp — including all the relevant handouts, guides, examples, and backup material.
Plus, Bootcamp on Demand includes access to the spec challenge writing opportunities from Job Fair — and I’ll tell you more about those in just a moment…
But first, I have to let you know that this thing sells like crazy each and every year we offer it. So it's going to be important you act quickly.
A Perennial Favorite
Bootcamp on Demand has a huge fan club.
AWAI members — and especially our overseas members — tell us it’s perfect because it gives them all the benefits of being at a FastTrack to Copywriting Success Bootcamp and Job Fair without the stress, hassle, and expense of traveling.
You’re able to hear all the latest copy secrets and direct insights into what’s working in today’s direct-mail market while preserving precious vacation days and limiting disruptions to your work schedule.
And if you’re a “solitary” writer who doesn’t like crowds but still wants everything Bootcamp has to offer up-and-coming writers… then Bootcamp on Demand is the ideal way to host your own private copywriting event from the comfort of home. (Plus, this year, you’ll want to pay special attention to Marcia Yudkin’s session on self-marketing for introverts — in-person attendees raved about how wonderful it was to hear marketing advice from someone who truly understood the introvert’s dilemma.)
Even people who go to Bootcamp end up getting Bootcamp on Demand. Why?
For two very important reasons…
One, Bootcamp on Demand functions as a continually available working reference guide. Any time they have a question, come across a problem, or can’t remember exactly what each presenter said, they can simply log into their Bootcamp on Demand and find the answer.
And second, there’s so much going on each day at Bootcamp, it’s impossible to see and absorb everything that’s taking place!
But… Bootcamp on Demand saves the day…
Knowing you have a complete recording of each and every workshop, presentation, and panel discussion to “fall back on” — complete with presenter slides, examples, and handouts — means you can relax while you’re listening to the presentations.
Your mind is better able to absorb the information because you’re not panicking, worrying “If I don’t get this now, I’ll forget it…”
You don’t have to remember everything at once, because Bootcamp on Demand includes every accompanying resource people at Bootcamp get with every presentation — and those resources will always be there for you. With just one click of your mouse, you have 24/7 access to all the materials and presentations.
This is really helpful when you’re working on a project and you think, “Hey, didn’t Carline Anglade-Cole have a guide for creating the perfect theme that would get me unstuck?” or “Wait — what’s the third element of great copy Clayton Makepeace said I needed to beat the control here?”… just go to your Bootcamp On Demand and all the answers are there.
“I jumped at the chance to buy Bootcamp on Demand last year since I enjoyed Bootcamp so much. It was my first Bootcamp and I found each session very beneficial in helping me understand what it takes to become a new copywriter. I needed to study the material and Bootcamp on Demand sure beats taking notes. I also didn’t want to miss out on the sessions I couldn't attend. I found that all the speakers were excellent but wanted to hear presenters like Herschell Gordon Lewis and Michael Masterson again and again. Thank you for providing us with a valuable source of copywriting information — all in one package.”
— Cathy Bojanowski
Do you see what I’m saying?
Bootcamp on Demand is your constant companion… a wealth of information you can go to time-after-time, whenever you need it.
And because the entire Program is available anytime, anywhere online, there are no big books to lug around. No pages to search through. Nothing to misplace. Just turn on your computer, point, click, and hear and see any presentation.
In fact, a lot of people who buy the Program tell us Bootcamp on Demand is actually better than being there.
"A family situation kept me from attending last year's Bootcamp, and Bootcamp on Demand was the next best thing. It gave me all the information that was presented in the various sessions and even offered something that Bootcamp couldn't, which was the ability to go back and review something I didn't quite catch the first time. It's a learning tool that I'll keep referring back to for years to come. Whether you're a ‘first-time Bootcamper’ or a seasoned pro, I highly recommend it."
— John Torre
In a lot of ways, they’re absolutely right!
You have access to all the information that comes out of those 3½ action-packed days… whenever you need it.
You get all the materials from every presentation… and this year, we brought an incredible lineup of copy superstars to the stage.
Here’s who was there, and what they shared in their sessions:
Alexander Green: The Inexhaustible Demand for A+ Copywriters — and YOU! — Our Keynote Speaker knows the value of great copy. As Investment Director of The Oxford Club and a member of Agora’s elite “Copywriter Hall of Fame,” Alex Green knows just how far one good idea can go. He kicked off this year’s Bootcamp with 10 writing tips you can use to make your copy stand out, such as:
- Why you must use the power of persuasion before you write a single word.
- Why your 17th draft is your best writing.
- What you must do the first thing every morning.
- How "uni-tasking" makes your writing stand out.
- And six more power-packed copywriting tips.
Tim Matassa had this to say about Alex’s speech:
“Alex Green packed more punch into an hour than almost anyone I’ve ever heard give a speech. He gave so many insights about training to be a copywriter, making it as a copywriter, and even about sales. His advice is useful, relevant, and easy to implement.”
Carline Anglade-Cole: How My 4 Kids Taught Me To Write Kick-Butt Copy! (And How You Can Master These Copywriting Gems Too!) — Carline is known for outstanding health copy and helping launch “O” Magazine in the direct-mail space. But she’s also well-known for her unique perspective on creating strong copy, and this “kid-themed” presentation had the whole room laughing and inspired to put fresh life in their next promotion.
For example, she explains:
- What to do when your due date… (DEADLINE) arrives.
- How her first child showed her how to overcome this #1 objection from prospects!
- How Drama Queen Kid #2 set the stage for many of her blockbuster controls.
- What she learned from her third child — AVOID this “kiss of death” in your copy!
- Child #4 provided GREAT tips of HOW to make your prospect feel like a winner.
Brian Kurtz: The Fundamentals of Marketing Success: Lessons from the Legends — In his 34 years at Boardroom, Brian mailed millions of pieces of direct mail as he helped build the company into a national powerhouse. Here, he channeled the greats of the past to give our room of modern-day copywriters valuable how-to secrets and key questions to ask in advance so you can guarantee the success of any campaign. Secrets, such as:
- What did the greatest copywriters of all time understand (and master) that you can apply to everything you write?
- What needs to be in every sales letter you send regardless of the medium?
- How do you make sure your testing is always dependable and leads to numbers you can take to the bank?
- Discover the secrets of how to truly "become your prospect."
Ben Settle: The “Rogue’s Secret Gallery” for Writing Emails People Look Forward to Reading and Buying From — This was Ben’s first time presenting at Bootcamp, and with his reputation as the “King of Email” online, it was eagerly anticipated. He shared a very different approach to finding email hooks and making email copywriting fun for you (and readers) with “info-tainment” content. And while some of his subject lines and themes shocked the room, numbers don’t lie — his crazy messages CONVERT. In the hallways right after the session, many members shared how they were going to completely re-do their next email series as a result of his presentation. Here's what he shared:
- The Disney movie email secret for making people only want to buy from you… even if you don’t have the “best" product or service.
- A 100% newbie-friendly way to write emails that are like catnip to clients hiring copywriters.
- How to use emails to milk money from your customer’s misery and have them LOVE you for it.
Nick Usborne: How We Bounce: Finding the Right Path During Times of Abundance — Bouncing, according to Nick, means staying in motion, rising above the crowd, seeing what others don’t see, pivoting and twisting to your best advantage. And in the world he pioneered — web writing — bouncing especially means becoming an adaptive agent so you can pursue the many lucrative, fun writing opportunities available in the booming digital age. With dry humor (and one crazy parkour motivator clip!), Nick shared practical tips for landing web clients and even building out your own web empire. Three powerful tips included in his speech:
- Discover the growing abundance of opportunities for freelancers.
- Find your point of greatest value within the crowd.
- Craft a message that makes your value sing… and stick.
Marcia Yudkin: Marketing for Introverts: Why No One Needs a Personality Transplant to Succeed as a Copywriter — Marcia was another first-time Bootcamp presenter, and her take on self-marketing was greatly appreciated by the audience. Several members shared with me afterwards how relieved they were hearing Marcia’s advice… she had practical, simple-to-implement tips guaranteed to boost your business without making you feel like you had to force yourself to be someone else to land clients. She shared many tips, among the stand outs:
- Why so much mainstream marketing advice is damaging for introverts.
- Real-life examples of powerful (and sometimes surprising) client-attracting strategies that suit quiet, unaggressive types.
- Inspiration for resolving to accept, rather than fight, your personality, preferences, and values.
Ilise Benun: Pricing Your Services Accurately and Talking Money with Confidence — Many copywriters HATE talking about money with clients, and Ilise knows it. For years, she’s worked with major “A-list” writers like Bob Bly to develop foolproof tactics for negotiating a smart deal for writing work. You should have seen the pencils flying during her session as attendees took notes. Ilise revealed exactly what to say — and how to say it — to land better deals with a minimum of angst. In fact, as I shared earlier, Becky Stark Tumidolsky was able to use Ilise’s advice to immediately seal a deal for DOUBLE what she’d planned to charge before seeing the session. Watching Ilise’s presentation, you'll learn:
- How to find, quote, and land the types of projects you want.
- What to say (and never say) when someone asks, “What do you charge?”
Pam Foster: Everybody’s Niche-able! Let’s Get You Unstuck — Niching yourself is a hot topic for freelancers, and Pam’s the queen of helping you uncover your niche. In this high-energy session, Pam led attendees through the difference between a niche and a specialty, the powerful benefits of niches, the hottest niches right now, and how to examine your skills and passion to land in a niche you’ll love. Many people left the room with fresh clarity and direction for their copy careers. Plus, with Bootcamp on Demand, you’ll also get access to all Pam’s handouts and the three pre-Bootcamp niching webinars she hosted. She'll help you find your niche using tips such as:
- How anyone can discover a great niche industry that’s perfect for them.
- How to find clarity if you’re stuck between several niches or you simply can't decide.
Paul Bobnak: How to Find Clients Using Who’s Mailing What! — In his session, Paul confessed that online and print direct-response mailings are his life. When someone drops a big box of “junk mail” on his desk, he stops everything to dig into it. He loves a full “spam” folder and overflowing inbox. And, Paul’s passion for finding great ideas for copy by studying what’s working across the industry is a key driver at Who’s Mailing What! Here, he shared how to use the insights and analytics a Who’s Mailing What! subscription delivers for market research, campaign planning, and copy ideas so you can be more successful as a writer in any niche. Highlights of his presentation include:
- Discover how to “steal smart” and get results from proven direct mail winners.
- Dazzle your customers with new ideas gleaned from studying thousands of direct mail and email campaigns.
- Determine how to keep your copy fresh by seeing what works in direct mail and email today.
Steve Slaunwhite: The Fun & Lucrative World of B2B Content — When Steve gave this presentation, he didn’t yet know he would be named our 2016 Copywriter of the Year for his work as teacher, mentor, and advocate of the B2B writing life. He loves B2B, and it shows. Listening here, you can’t help but be tempted to leap into the world of B2B content — something, as Steve shared, that’s possible for you even if you don’t have a traditional B2B background.
Steve wowed the crowd when he shared with attendees ways to:
- Find out about the fastest-growing opportunity in B2B writing.
- Learn about the highest-paying projects — and how to land them.
- Earn six-figures, consistently, without writing a word of “sales copy.”
- Or if you like sales copy, combine that with B2B content writing to double your income.
Clayton Makepeace: 41 Million-Dollar Marketing Lessons I Learned (or Re-Learned) in 2016 — Clayton had so much to share about his marketing experiences this past year… he made millions in royalties… that he went beyond his scheduled time and decided to offer a follow-up session on November 1st. With Bootcamp on Demand, you’ll have access to both sessions right away. And you’re going to love what you hear… as attendee Teri Weber put it:
“Clayton Makepeace’s ‘41 Million-Dollar Marketing Lessons’ was aptly named. A gold mine of info. I’ll be reviewing again and again until every lesson is firmly ingrained.”
Dan Kennedy: The Millionaire Writer: Five Gold Keys to Income, Freedom, and Your Writer’s Life as an Independent Freelancer — Dan gave some heartfelt writer-to-writer advice about building your business and making the most of your talents (one attendee shared that his words gave her a whole new perspective on her writing abilities and her confidence that yes, she absolutely CAN make it as a copywriter). Speaking from experience, he revealed his proven tactics for maximizing your compensation, finding better clients, and how to plug in to his system for never being out of work. Including:
- How to find, manage, and maximize compensation from your client.
- Learn how to open doors to more and better clients.
- And what he called "Five Gold Keys" that beginners or seasoned pros can use to ensure continued success in their writing career.
Joshua Boswell: Making the Leap — Along with his duties as emcee, Joshua hosts a special session each year where he reveals what it takes to leap from being a total newcomer to copywriting into the highest levels of compensation, clients, and freedom.
Ted Capshaw: Where Do You Go From Here? — Executive life coach Ted Capshaw closed out our 2016 Bootcamp with a moving, inspirational session designed to help you see how to move forward and stay motivated for the year ahead. His speech continued the themes of his two pre-event webinars — included with Bootcamp on Demand — and left the room armed with a six-word question writers can use to guide themselves back on track whenever they feel lost or stuck as they pursue their goals.
“Ted’s presentation really moved me. I want to be a better person for my family. I really appreciate that he allowed himself to be vulnerable and remind me WHY I’m following this dream.”
— Ruthann Kronk
As I said, it’s an incredible lineup. And every word of these sessions is available for viewing as often as you want, now and in the future.
And that’s not all…
Bring Job Fair to Your Home
Bootcamp on Demand even comes with a special link to our “Job Fair” page where you get to see information from marketers in search of their next up-and-coming copywriters.
There are more than TWENTY marketers still looking to hire writing talent right now. They include major names like Beachbody, Bonner & Partners, NewsMax, International Living, The Healthy Back Institute, and Weiss Research.
Their deadlines for spec submissions extend through December — and some even have an open, ongoing call out for fresh writers with AWAI credentials.
Connect with even ONE of these marketers in a major way, and you could be snapped up for the rest of your career. These are companies who understand the value of great copy and don’t hesitate to pay top fees for good work.
You also don’t need to be nervous about submitting copy to a Job Fair marketer. Why not?
Your AWAI copywriting skills are exactly what they want. These marketers have come to Bootcamp specifically to hire writers like you.
Plus, we’re going to tell you what marketers want you to know to succeed. As part of your Bootcamp on Demand, you’ll receive access to a panel discussion where top marketers at Bootcamp revealed what they look for when hiring a writer at the beginner, intermediate, and “A-list” level.
The panel discussion — hosted by Rebecca — included Brian Kurtz of Titans Marketing, Helen Buttery from Sears Wellness Group, Wayne Ellis of Eagle Financial Group, Lori Allen from Great Escape Publishing, and AWAI’s own Copy Chief, Sandy Franks.
The full discussion is yours as a part of Bootcamp on Demand.
Now don’t get me wrong…
As wonderful as these recordings and follow-up sessions are, if you can ever make it to Bootcamp and the Job Fair in Delray Beach, please do it. It’s an experience you’ll never forget — a great place to meet and mingle, plug into the energy of experts and peers, and get a real feel for the industry.
We Understand It’s Not Always Easy
Yet we fully understand it’s not a simple undertaking to attend Bootcamp in real time.
If you choose to join us in person, with a day of travel on either side, it’s five days out of your schedule.
And although we think it’s one of the best networking/instructional/informational career-boosting values you’ll ever see, it does cost money — over and above the regular $2,495 three-day admission price to be there this year.
Here’s a rough idea of what you could expect to pay, short of pitching a tent on the beach or sleeping in your van.
There’s the Bootcamp event fee | $2,495 (or $1,995 “Early-Bird” price) |
Add in typical round-trip airfare | $485 |
Onsite hotel with taxes | $901 |
Food & drink, very conservatively | $215 |
Out-of-pocket stuff | $150 |
Total Cost | $4,246 |
Of course, there are plenty of Bootcamp attendees who will tell you $3,700-$4,200 is a bargain, considering the impact it can have on your writing and career… and especially if your Bootcamp experience ends up bagging you fees from one (or more) of the Spec Assignments you take on there. (I can’t tell you how many of our most successful members launched their careers by taking something they learned at Bootcamp and applying it to a Spec Assignment!)
Attend virtually — something we offered for the first time this past year — and you will save on travel costs. Yet the virtual experience carried a $1,995 participation fee, and to make the most of the interactive live-streaming experience, you still needed to take the full 3½ days of Bootcamp completely off. That’s not always possible, even if you’re already a working freelance copywriter.
Less challenging — both financially and time-wise — is Bootcamp on Demand.
At the regular price of just $995, the 2016 edition of Bootcamp on Demand is a fraction of the cost of in-person or virtual attendance.
You get recordings of every presentation, all the guarded secrets from all the speakers, all the support material (including handouts, “cheat sheets,” examples, and more), access to every pre-event and post-event webinar, PLUS access to dozens of Spec Assignments offered by Job Fair marketers.
Actionable Learning that Can Have an Immediate Impact on Your Career
Bootcamp — whether you experience it in person, streaming live, or On Demand in the comfort of your own home — offers you actionable ideas that can immediately re-shape your career.
You get:
- More knowledge — particularly when it comes to copy that’s working in the market right now. The latest tips and just-tested writing strategies.
- More confidence — and the great feeling that, yes, you can do this because now you have all the tools and encouragement you need to move forward…
- Meaningful work to do — in terms of Spec Assignments you can submit, knowing the marketers waiting for them are people who want to hire any writer who shows good potential.
I think you’ll agree, we’re talking about a pretty thorough package that covers a lot of bases:
- Literally hundreds of copywriting secrets from our all-star lineup of the best copywriters in the world…
- Dozens of “live” Spec Assignments — assignments you can tackle right away, with all the information you need to get started…
- Pages of tips on getting and keeping clients (for when you’re ready to strike out on your own)…
- All the resources and backup material anyone who attended Bootcamp received before, during, and after the presentations. (This stuff is worth its weight in gold — chock-full of useable and inspiring ideas.)
And with Bootcamp on Demand, all of this is yours for just $995

Of course, it’s difficult to put a value on this gift — except to say you would have had to attend nine Bootcamps or buy nine editions of Bootcamp on Demand to hear them — an expense of anywhere between $4,500 (for the home studies) and $34,000 (to attend the Bootcamps).
But you can have it free — our gift to you — simply for securing your copy of Bootcamp on Demand today.
“Yeah, I love my AWAI Bootcamp on Demand Program!”
“Just finished going through it again… And the value for money is amazing. There are hours upon hours of breakthrough copywriting secrets from veterans like Mike Palmer, John Forde, Will Newman, and so much more.
“PRICELESS!
“My latest sales letter includes tips, tricks, and techniques learned from the 2008 Bootcamp on Demand Program… And it's up to about $700,000 right now!
“Even if that sales letter doesn't make another cent, my commission alone will cover what I paid many times over.
“Can't beat that!”
— Colm O’Dwyer
