I’m Looking for a Few Eager Writers to Become My Next B2B Writing Apprentices

This is your chance to personally work with me to gain the knowledge, skills, and tools you need to earn as much as $140K a year as an in-demand B2B writer… in just 10 short weeks.

You’ll get hands-on instruction, mentoring, and private one-to-one feedback directly from me…

… the chance to be handed a check for $1,000 for your writing…

… and perhaps more importantly:

*The potential to be on my “shortlist” of B2B writers I refer my “overflow clients” to (I turn down about 100 per year!).

Therefore it’s important to note: This is being offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Once enrollment closes — that’s it!

Hi Reader,

In my 20+ years as a working B2B writer, I can tell you with utter certainty the demand for well-trained B2B copywriters is strong.

I just did a quick count of the number of B2B writing jobs on professional networks such as Indeed, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and SimplyHired, and there are at least 11,053 unfilled positions.

And that’s just in the past few days.

The need for B2B writers is expected to continue to grow at a rapid-fire pace.

What’s more, the demand is so great that “The State of B2B Marketing Budgets Survey 2023” found that 57% of B2B marketers are optimizing for growth in their marketing budgets.

And a report from LinkedIn and Ipsos found that two out of three B2B marketers expect their budgets to increase in the coming year.

Just how much are they investing?

Well, just last year, according to eMarketer, B2B companies in the U.S. were forecast to spend a whopping $31.7 BILLION!

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

One of the ways companies are combating this ever-growing need for skilled writers is by hiring freelance writers. In fact, a New York Times “roundup” of the biggest trends in B2B content marketing found that nearly HALF of all B2B companies will outsource their writing needs.

This is all great news for you, because with this much pent-up demand for talented writers, there’s no better time to be a B2B writer than right now.

And that’s why I’m writing to you today.

I’ve made it my mission to turn a small group of eager writers into highly skilled B2B writing professionals, and I’m going to do it in just 10 weeks.

I’m so passionate about this that I’ve rearranged my schedule so I can give you my full attention. And, not to brag, but as one of the top B2B writers in the industry, who is usually booked months in advance, that’s no easy task.

But I’m 100% committed to helping you succeed.

As one of my B2B writing apprentices, you’ll have me as your mentor and coach. I’m going to show you step-by-step how to write all the most common types of in-demand B2B writing projects that clients need, from simple paid assignments such as writing a webpage or blog post to the more strategic B2B projects like case studies, email campaigns, and white papers.

Not only am I going to show you how to write them all, but during the 10 weeks of coaching, you’ll be given five practice assignments to help build your B2B writing skills, confidence — and, even more importantly, your portfolio.

And after the training ends, I’ll be choosing five writers to hand a $1,000 check to for what amounts to just a few pages of copy.

That’s why I can say with full confidence that by the time your training is complete, you’ll be ready to take on any one of these high-paying B2B writing assignments:

With the skills and techniques I’ll be sharing with you throughout the upcoming 10 weeks, there’s no doubt in my mind that you’ll have the proper writing skills, tools, and client-getting knowledge to put yourself on the path to earning a six-figure income… with the potential to make as much as $140,000 (or more!).

And to help ensure you’re able to reach your full potential, I’m going to walk you through the proven tactics I use to land clients, such as simple internet searches you can do to easily find B2B clients, the one-word method that easily sways clients to give you a try, and many more strategies that will help you land clients with ease and confidence.

But that’s not all.

I’m Looking to Create a “Shortlist” of B2B Writers I Can Refer Prospective Clients To

Like I just mentioned, I’ll be teaching you the client-getting methods and tactics I’ve personally used.

Because they work. A little too well…

You see, rarely does a week go by that I don’t have prospective clients approaching me, wanting me to work with them.

Unfortunately, I’m already booked solid.

So I have to turn them down.

After doing this multiple times each month, you can imagine… I start to feel kind of bad. And I wonder if there’s anyone out there I could refer these companies to (and still keep my reputation intact!).

It’s why in the past, I’ve referred a few of these clients to a select few of my previous apprentices — ones who really stood out to me and demonstrated they had put everything I taught them into action and really sharpened their B2B writing skills.

One of them even ended up with a $2,200 monthly retainer as a result of one of the clients I referred to them!

That made me happy. Because I was able to help out one of my apprentices, and I was able to provide a solution to the company I had to turn down.

But they too are starting to get busy.

So that’s why I’d love to be able to have a shortlist of writers I trust. I want to be able to know I can refer these companies to good, skilled writers who’ll get the job done and help them get great results.

And that’s what I’ll be looking for this time around…

Of course, there are no guarantees — but if you impress me as one of my apprentices, there’s a possibility you’ll get an email from me sending potential clients your way.

Which is also why…

You’ll Get All My Formulas, Templates, and More to Ensure You KNOW How to Write Like a Top B2B Copywriter

You really do get it all. And I leave no stone unturned.

I’ll show you the same frameworks, formulas, and templates I use to write things like B2B ads, landing pages, web copy, case studies, and more for all my clients.

We’ll do this by looking at REAL examples of B2B copy and then dissecting it bit by bit — like this:

Part 1 of B2B copy example

Part 2 of B2B copy example

Part 3 of B2B copy example

I’m also going to help make sure you…

It’s the closest thing you’ll find to a B2B copywriting “business in a box.” And I break down how to do it all for you, step-by-step.

That way, you can follow along, even if you have little to no experience with B2B copywriting.

You’re Even Going to Learn How to USE AI to Write B2B Copy (Because Your Future B2B Clients Will Expect You to Be “AI-Literate”)

AI is transforming B2B copywriting faster than many of us ever imagined. Tools like ChatGPT can now write entire emails, blog posts, and, in some cases, even basic white papers with just a few prompts.

And sure — it still has a ways to go before it can write perfect copy like a human copywriter can.

But it’s gotten to the point where you can’t ignore AI… especially in the B2B world.

Because while many writers were fearing AI, thinking it would replace them…

… B2B companies and their marketing departments are embracing it.

They now expect the writers they hire to understand how to use AI and are completely “okay” with you using it to help you write the content and copy they need — faster.

Which is why I’ve spent the last year learning how to use AI to help me with my own client work.

And in this apprenticeship, I’ll show you everything I’ve learned, including what you need to know, what to avoid, why NOT knowing how to use AI to write B2B copy is a huge disadvantage, how to approach the topic with clients, and more.

Now, there’s a lot here.

And because this is such a comprehensive apprenticeship program…

When your training is finished, AWAI will give you a Certificate of Completion that shows you’ve successfully completed the training program, which is specifically designed to get you up and running as quickly as possible, taking on the most sought-after B2B writing projects.

This certificate will be your tangible, daily reminder that you put in the effort and commitment needed to successfully complete 10 weeks of detailed B2B training.

You’ll also have the chance to be handed a $1,000 check for your writing.

I’ll show you how to claim your certificate and the details on the chance to get paid for your writing in just a minute. But first, please know this…

The Type of Writer I’m Looking For

This comprehensive training program is designed for a small group of “writers in training”… writers who are willing to put in the work and time it takes to master each of the B2B writing projects that clients need to bring in new customers and grow their businesses. That’s why I’m looking for just a few eager writers who are ready to take action.

Why? As your mentor and coach, it’s my job to ensure that everyone who participates gets the proper attention and guidance they need, so at the end of our 10 weeks together, each one is a bona fide B2B writing professional.

So if you want in… if you want me to be your B2B writing mentor and coach… if you want the chance to be part of a growing market that needs skilled writers… if you want the chance to learn how to make a six-figure income as a professional B2B copywriter… if you want the opportunity to be handed a check for $1,000… then I strongly urge you to secure your seat today.

More on how to do that in a few minutes, but for now let me tell you a little about myself and then walk you step-by-step through the training program so you can see just how much you’ll accomplish in 10 weeks.

Specifically Designed to Accelerate Your B2B Writing Career

My name is Steve Slaunwhite. You might recognize it. In 2016, I was awarded the prestigious honor of Copywriter of the Year by AWAI.

Me, holding my 2016 Copywriter of the Year award.

My insights into copywriting and freelance success have been featured in DM News, Inside Direct Mail, the Wall Street Journal, Marketing Magazine, the Globe and Mail, The Writer, and numerous other publications.

And, while I’m a popular author with five books to my credit, including The Everything Guide to Writing Copy, Start and Run a Copywriting Business, and The Wealthy Freelancer, I earn my living as a B2B copywriter. It’s something I’ve been doing with tremendous success for more than 20 years.

My first “client” was my dad! At age 16, I wrote a sales letter for his business that landed him two new clients. (And got me a raise in my allowance!)

Ever since then, I’ve been hooked on making a living as a writer. And that’s exactly what has happened.

I launched my freelance B2B writing career on August 3, 1995. I remember the date because I typed it out on paper and pinned it to my bulletin board.

Here’s a picture of me holding a letter from my very first client, Triangle Marketing Group. By the way, I keep this photo pinned (you can see the pin holes) to my board as a reminder of just how far I’ve come in this business.

It wasn’t always easy, because I started writing part time while juggling a full-time sales job. Sometimes I was writing at night and on the weekends, but I was determined to live the writer’s dream.

Two years later, I quit my job and was writing full time. I had secured enough paying clients that in my first year as a freelance writer, I made over $70,000.

The next year my income exceeded $100,000. That’s also the same time I landed my first retainer agreement with UPS. That agreement lasted for 10 full years.

And speaking of retainer agreements, one of the great things about working in the B2B industry is that once a client hires you and likes your work…

… they’ll often want to keep you busy, writing for them month after month (and in some cases, like me with UPS, year after year!).

Since then, I’ve worked with more than 200 companies, using my B2B copywriting skills to help them create winning websites, emails, ads, white papers, and other sales-building marketing pieces.

I’m also known as the go-to copywriting trainer for businesses large and small, including ACAMS, Scheduling Institute, Osgoode Hall Law School, the University of Toronto, and dozens of others.

The Secret to My Success as a B2B Copywriter

What’s my secret? It’s simple. I care about my client’s business as much as they do. So when I’m writing their copy and content, my heart is in it 100%.

Also, when you get to know me, you’ll realize very quickly how passionate I am about the B2B industry and the opportunities it offers writers. That’s another reason why I’ve been putting so much of my time and energy over the last several years into helping AWAI create specialized programs to train the next generation of B2B writers.

For me, it’s a matter of giving back.

You see, when I launched my professional writing career all those years ago, there were no courses or training programs available of any kind.

Heck, even the internet, which debuted in 1985, was barely a thing people used to find information online, and there certainly wasn’t much out there on how to write B2B copy and content.

Most of what I learned was through trial and error and hard work. But my persistence paid off.

Why I Created
This B2B Writing Apprenticeship

I now make a healthy six-figure income every year, picking and choosing the clients I want to work with (and like I mentioned earlier, turning about 100 away every year)… even how often I want to write, sometimes just a few hours a day. That gives me spare time to spend on projects I enjoy… like helping other writers reach their career goals.

So when Rebecca Matter, president of AWAI, asked me to design a mentoring and coaching program that could put writers on the fast track to B2B copywriting success, I didn’t hesitate.

I immediately got to work putting together a comprehensive, hands-on training program that would allow me to teach aspiring writers like you everything you’d need to know about writing powerful B2B copy, even if you’ve never written a word of copy in your life.

My goal is simple:

To give you the skills, confidence, and a complete portfolio of samples you can use to start landing great clients right away.

The apprenticeship I created gives you exposure to the inner world of B2B writing… from the 14 different kinds of projects clients need completed to how to write them with 100% ease and how to interact with clients with 100% confidence.

By the time you finish the training program, you’ll have not only the skills and confidence to write the most pressing B2B projects but also five portfolio samples you could use to land great clients right away.

The training program is called B2B Writing Apprentice…

Is This Apprenticeship Right for You?

Now, you might be wondering if this apprenticeship is something you should consider.

I think so — because I’ve designed this to be for writers with all levels of experience… from aspiring writers who want to break into a lucrative market… to working writers who want to accelerate their writing careers… to savvy writers looking for ways to increase their earning potential in an industry that offers challenging yet rewarding work and high fees.

What’s more, your prior writing background almost doesn’t matter.

What it takes to succeed more than anything is the desire to write and a willingness to learn. From there, I’ll teach you the skills you need to fast-track your way to becoming a highly skilled B2B copywriter with skills, knowledge, and tools to potentially make as much as $140,000 a year.

Plus you’ll have the chance to earn $1,000 for your writing.

And it gets better: Since you’re already an AWAI member, you’re automatically eligible to participate in this high-level B2B apprenticeship. But you’ll have to act swiftly to ensure you claim a spot before enrollment closes.

Now that you know what it takes to make the leap into the world of B2B writing, let me give you a brief rundown of the training program so you can see for yourself how by starting on day one and finishing up just 10 short weeks later, you’ll be able to call yourself a professionally trained B2B writing expert.

Here’s How It All Comes Together So You Can Fast-Track Your Way to B2B Writing Expertise

As I mentioned earlier, I designed this 10-week coaching program so you’ll know exactly what B2B clients expect and need from you. No matter what assignment they give you, whether writing a landing page, advertising inserts, website copy, white papers, or case studies, you’ll be able to say “YES” with confidence.

This is by far one of the most comprehensive programs I’ve ever put together. I’ve taken over two decades of success and created a live interactive coaching and mentoring program that speeds up your learning curve so you can start earning more money faster.

What do I mean by interactive? Throughout the B2B Writing Apprentice training, our conversations will be a mix of instructions and discussions, along with questions and answers.

We’ll be meeting once a week for 10 sessions, and I’ll be available to answer questions that come up as you’re working on the assignments.

During your training, you’ll be given five practice assignments to do between our “class” sessions. These practice assignments are designed so you can “test out” your knowledge and new skills before you take on your first real writing project.

I’ve also planned the assignments out so they follow along with what we’ve learned during the sessions. That way, you can practice applying the concepts covered that week.

Of course, since I’ll be acting as your writing mentor and coach, you’ll be able to ask me questions and get advice and guidance at any time during the training. You’ll be given access to a private Facebook group where you can submit your questions to me, plus get to see what your fellow writers are asking, even getting their feedback and input.

I (along with my colleague Lisa Christoffel, who is the managing editor for B2B Writers International) will also give you direct feedback on your practice assignments. That way, you’ll be able to monitor your progress and figure out which components of the program you’ve come to excel at and the sections you’ll want to spend more time with. You’ll be amazed at how quickly this kind of feedback helps improve your mastery of B2B writing.

The truth is, it’s this kind of professional-level feedback that takes you from rookie B2B copywriter to skilled, confident professional — and fast.

Throughout the 10-week training period, I’ll introduce you to other B2B experts who will share their years of experience and know-how with you as well. That way, you’ll get a well-rounded foundation in the world of B2B copywriting.

Now, as you can imagine, going through this training program requires a serious commitment on your part. That means you must dedicate time to each of the practice assignments and find time in your busy schedule to join each of the sessions, as well as be active in our group discussions.

But I promise that if you stick with me through the entire 10 weeks of coaching and mentoring, you’ll emerge as a skilled B2B writer ready to work with clients who are eager to pay you awesome fees for everything you write.

You’ll be well on your way to living the writer’s life you’ve always dreamed of and deserve. Just like it happened for J. Cardell, who took my training program a few years ago. She started out with very little B2B experience, but soon after going through this mentoring program, she landed a job with Inman, a leading B2B real estate publication.

They loved her B2B writing skills so much, a few months later, she was brought on to write for The Close… the top B2B publication in our industry.

She’s now one of their main content writers. Writing for a premier publication such as The Close, well, you can imagine she’s earning a very healthy salary.

How a Six-Figure Income Is Within Your Reach

With the number of B2B writing projects clients need completed, it’s very possible to make a six-figure income.

It’s not out of the question for a good B2B writer to earn as much as $140,000 a year working with just a handful of B2B clients. And we’re talking about projects that, once you know how to do them, you can complete in a few hours.

Here’s what I mean.

For example, let’s say you land a client who needs a series of five emails written. And since you’ve gone through my coaching and mentoring program, you know exactly how to write those emails.

And because of that, you could charge your client $500 for each one you write. That’s a payday of $2,500. We’re not talking lengthy emails either.

They could vary from 150 words up to 1,000 and wouldn’t take you more than a few hours to write.

Since you did such a great job writing those emails, that same client now asks you to write a product sales page. And for this project you can charge up to $1,250 per page.

Again, we’re not talking about writing long-form sales messages that are sometimes 18, 24, and even up to 32 pages long and can take up to six weeks to complete. We’re talking about two or so pages in length — or $2,500 total.

With these projects completed, you’ve earned $5,000 in writing fees. Not bad for a few hours of your time, right?

But it doesn’t stop here.

The next project they want you to take on is writing two articles. Again, another easy writing project to complete within a few hours of your time, and in return you can charge up to $1,000 per article, and in this case, $2,000 for both.

Add it up and you’re making $7,000.

At this point, you’ve really impressed your client with your B2B writing skills, and next thing you know you’re writing a white paper. And this is where you can charge even higher fees.

That’s because white papers are a critical marketing tool for almost every kind of B2B business. The reason why is that they are specifically used to sell big, new, specialized, and expensive products.

Now, admittedly, white papers do take a little more time to write than other B2B projects like emails and sales product pages, but remember… you’ve been through my mentoring program, so you know exactly how to write one.

And when you’re done, you turn it in to your client and they pay you $5,000, which is reasonable, depending on the length, how quickly the client needs it completed, and the scope of the project.

From this single client, you’ve now collected monthly income of $12,000. Do that every month for the next 11 months and you’re making $144,000.

Here’s what I want you to realize. When a client falls in love with your writing skills, they’ll continue to use you for most all their writing projects.

That’s exactly how it happened for Linda L. She started writing for a risk management consulting firm that handles multimillion-dollar risk management issues in construction and marine industries.

Her first project was a paid print ad. And right after that project, the client was asking for her help writing content for his website and wanted more print ads written.

Sometimes all it takes is one client to generate a six-figure income. And you can work with that one client for years. Remember, I was on retainer with UPS for 10 years.

And, during our time together, I’m going to share with you the exact strategies I use to build my client base. In fact, let me take a few minutes to walk you through the entire apprenticeship I’ve put together.

Everything You Get

Now that you’ve gotten a glimpse of the earning potential of being a B2B writer, let me dive into each session so you can see all the things you’ll be learning and how you can use these new writing skills to tackle just about any B2B writing project with skill and confidence.

Keep in mind that what I’m teaching you here are the very techniques, tactics, and strategies I use every day when writing for my clients. They’re easy to learn and don’t require a lot of extra effort on your part.

Just remember, there are two things it takes to become a successful B2B copywriter: the desire to write and the willingness to learn. If you have those two things, you’re already in a position to excel.

I should point out that one thing you’ll notice about this program that sets it apart from others is that the sessions build on each other. Think of it as a type of purposely structured learning that continually increases your knowledge.

Structured learning works like this… The first session lays the foundation for the next one and the one after and so on, all the way up to week 10. Once you’ve gone through all the sessions, you’ll understand why I say you can now call yourself a highly skilled B2B writing expert.

And since writing is the foundation for everything you’ll be doing as a B2B copywriter, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to practice what you’ve been learning with the practice assignments I’ve created, which are identical to what you’d expect to get with real clients.

When you’ve got the assignments just right, submit them to me for feedback (and the opportunity to be handed a check for $1,000). More on how to do that later.

Oh, and one more thing…

Because of the time commitment I’m making to be available to you and give you as much personal attention as I can…

I urge you to take advantage of this opportunity while spots are still available.

And with that, let me walk you through each learning session.

WEEK ONE — The Basics of Writing B2B Copy That Engages and Sells

Welcome to the fun and lucrative world of B2B copywriting! In our first session, I break down the B2B market so you get a feel for the types of clients you’ll be working with, from small- to medium- to large-sized companies. I’ll also give you an overview of the types of in-demand writing projects you’ll do and what’s involved in completing them.

You'll also discover…

  • The three types of clients who pay B2B copywriters top dollar.
  • What those clients are looking for these days in a B2B copywriter, so you can adapt your approach to their needs.
  • The most common types of projects B2B writers handle.
  • The growing role that “content” plays, and the fun and lucrative assignments you’ll be handling in this area.
  • Examples of real-world clients and the projects they’re hiring copywriters to write for them.
  • Insights into the business buyer and how to motivate them. (This is crucial when writing B2B copy.)
  • The ideal writing style for B2B copy and content, and how to master it.

WEEK TWO — Writing B2B Copy for Ads, Landing Pages, and More

Now that you’ve got a good foundation of the world in B2B copywriting, it’s time to roll up our sleeves and get right to it.

That’s why this week, I’m going to help you “level up” your skills in this all-important area.

We’ll cover important elements such as headlines, body copy, and the call to action that make ads, landing pages, and other forms of B2B copy and content stand out and get attention. You’ll also learn proven writing formulas for sales copy and techniques that boost response rates, conversions, leads, and sales, including…

  • the ONE THING every headline you write must do.
  • 27 proven headline formats that you can model.
  • a simple — but surprisingly effective — strategy for brainstorming headlines and subject line ideas. (Use this technique and you’ll have two or three winners in minutes.)
  • a headline evaluator tool, to help you pick the best one to present to your client.
  • how to write body copy that glues your reader to the page (or screen!).
  • how to quick and easily increase your client’s “conversion rates” (i.e., how many people take a desired action).
  • and much more…

WEEK THREE — Writing B2B Content for Blogs and Social Media

“Content” is the fastest-growing opportunity for B2B writers. In fact, it represents about half the work you’ll do for clients. If you can write great content for a company, you’ll be indispensable to them. (Many of my long-term clients — 10 years plus — are mainly content writing clients. I have a ball every time I sit down to write for them.)

My goal in this session is to teach you the “advanced basics” of writing great content. Here’s what you’ll get…

  • A review, with real-world examples, of content writing projects, including blogs and social media outlets, and how they were written.
  • How to research content quickly, so you get all the facts and stories you need.
  • Tips on handling interviews like a pro.
  • A basic formula for writing blog posts, articles, and social media posts that wow your client’s target audience.
  • Numerous additional tips, techniques, and hacks for writing content better than 95% of the writers out there. (Believe me. Clients notice the difference.)

Your first practice assignment: You’ll write a website product page. Follow my easy step-by-step instructions, and when you’re done, turn your submission in to get feedback directly from me. If you do a good job, you could be handed a check at the end of the training in the amount of $1,000.

WEEK FOUR — Deep Dive into Writing Websites

B2B companies make over, or completely redesign, their websites every 18 months on average. That means that as a B2B writer, you’ll be doing a lot of website writing work. That’s good news. These projects are high profile within a company and tend to be VERY well paying.

In this session, I’ll share all my secrets to strategizing and writing client websites, and getting paid $1,750–$4,000 per project. You'll learn…

  • the essential point of view you need to have while writing a client’s website.
  • how to strategize and plan out the various pages needed.
  • the three “hats” you’ll wear when you write a client’s website.
  • how to discuss a website project with your client, so you get and stay on the right track.
  • how to write about your client’s brand. (I'll show you a three-step process almost no one else knows.)
  • how to write homepages.
  • how to write product/service pages.
  • how to write About Us pages. (Knowing how to write this page is more important than you might think!)
  • how to submit the copy and work with your client’s web designer.

WEEK FIVE — Deep Dive into Writing Emails and Marketing

B2B companies send more than a million distinct marketing emails each day! So there’s no doubt that you’ll be writing a lot of emails for your B2B clients. That’s good news, because email copywriting is VERY lucrative. You can make more money per hour doing this type of work than your doctor makes seeing patients!

In this session, I’ll teach you all the fundamentals…

  • General guidelines for effective email copywriting and marketing, including the elements that matter most to your client.
  • A review of several real-world email campaigns and how they were written.
  • The five types of marketing emails.
  • Four “paint by number” writing formulas you can use to craft winning emails, faster and with more confidence.
  • How to write online ads and landing pages that grab attention.
  • Several tips and tricks the pros use (but rarely share).

Practice assignments two and three: You’ll get to write an email, followed by a B2B Facebook ad, using the template and formula I give you. This is your chance to really start building your portfolio, so you can proudly show your prospective clients what you can do, should they ever ask.

WEEK SIX — Deep Dive into Writing Long-Form Content (E-books and White Papers)

Long-form content is popular in B2B writing. In fact, many companies are hungry to get their next white paper or e-book written so they can get more leads coming into their business and convert them to paying customers.

And that's where you come in.

In this module, you'll learn the proven writing formulas for crafting these types of much-needed projects, as well as other techniques that will turn you into a long-form content superstar for your clients.

You’ll learn…

  • how to write out a simple “rough sketch” outline that gets your client excited to see the finished assignment.
  • the six-step formula that makes writing a white paper a breeze.
  • clever ways to use facts and statistics to build a persuasive argument for your e-book or white paper.
  • writing e-book titles that keep your clients’ customers engaged and wanting to know more.
  • the three-step structure every e-book should follow (and why it makes the ones you write stand out from the competition).
  • an effortless way to keep a conversational tone when writing white papers and why customers will read to the very end.
  • and so much more!

Your next (and fourth) practice assignment: You’ll write a blog post. Remember, all you have to do is follow my easy step-by-step instructions and when you’re done, turn your submission in to get personalized feedback. And if you do a good job, this is a chance to be handed a check in the amount of $1,000 after our 10 weeks of training is complete.

WEEK SEVEN — Deep Dive into Writing Case Studies

Do you like writing stories? Then you’ll love writing case studies. These are customer success stories where you actually get to interview your client’s customers. It’s a lot like being a journalist! I’ve interviewed customers from around the world, including a CEO who was standing on top of the largest hydroelectric dam in the world at the time.

Here’s what you’ll take away from this session…

  • An overview of case studies and how to write them.
  • Tips and insights into how to interview the client’s customer and get the story.
  • A simple yet powerful formula for writing a case study — that will cut your writing time in half.
  • A walk-through of actual case studies and how they were written.
  • Numerous tips and techniques.

You’ll also get your fifth practice assignment: a practice case study for a fictional B2B client.

Case studies are more important than ever before, since trust between buyers and sellers is crucial. Case studies help create that bridge of trust… and help move the sale forward quickly. And it’s why you’ll get practice writing this in-demand project.

WEEKS EIGHT & NINE — How to Land Great Clients Who Pay High Fees

You probably realize by now how comprehensive this training program is. It’s more of a soup-to-nuts strategy on not only how to write for the B2B market but how to build your freelance writing business.

And I wouldn’t have it any other way. Your writing income only increases when you have a steady stream of clients.

So we’ll dig in and learn proven client-getting strategies, such as…

  • clever “grand opening” techniques that will have B2B clients curious to know more about you.
  • nine simple internet searches you can do to easily find B2B clients.
  • how to give just enough details so clients understand how you can help them meet their copy and content needs.
  • the one-word method that easily sways clients to give you a try.
  • the single strategy you MUST always use when looking for new clients and why it works every time.
  • six ways to build a referral network that helps you identify potential clients.
  • the exact words to say to make a lasting impression when someone asks what you do for a living.
  • four simple ways to turn public appearances into client-getting presentations.
  • and many more proven client-getting action steps.

WEEK TEN — Deep Dive into Using AI to Write B2B Copy

In our final week together, we’ll dive into how you should be using AI as a B2B writer.

Let me be 100% clear — the goal here is NOT to replace you with AI writing bots. Far from it.

The world still needs good, persuasive B2B writers who understand their client’s business objectives inside and out. Who know how to connect emotionally with their target audience. And who can create the kind of content B2B buyers engage with.

However, AI tools are evolving quickly — and the B2B marketing landscape is evolving right along with it.

So it’s important you stay ahead of the curve and learn how to use AI as both an advantage AND a “selling point” when it comes to getting clients to want to hire you.

You’ll learn…

  • the fundamentals of ChatGPT and other AI writing tools — I’ll demystify exactly how they work so you can use them skillfully.
  • practical tips for supercharging your writing speed with AI support — while still maintaining full creative control and final approval over what gets sent to your clients.
  • how to carefully fact-check AI-generated copy to catch any factual errors or inconsistencies.
  • when it is (and isn’t) appropriate to use AI writing tools for client projects — I’ll share professional best practices so you always stay within ethical boundaries.
  • the limitations of today’s AI tools.
  • and much more.

Now that we’ve spent this time together exploring in detail all the different types of writing projects you’ll do as a copywriter, you’ll also have had the chance to practice working on the five most typical B2B assignments you’ll be asked to write.

And this is great news, because…

You’ll Have Built
a “Dream” Portfolio of B2B Samples (And YES — About 50% of B2B Clients Will Ask to See Them!)

I’ve coached a lot of new writers in B2B.

And one big fear I hear over and over is this:

“What if they ask to see samples of my writing? I’m new — I haven’t written anything!”

Here’s the truth:

Some clients will be happy to just see what you’ve written on your website — things like your homepage, your About page, and more.

If they can see you’ve written great copy to promote yourself, that’s enough for them to trust you’ll do a good job.

But about half of all prospective clients will ask that one question new writers dread: “Can we see a few samples of your writing?”

That’s why I spend so much time each week in this apprenticeship giving you my formulas, frameworks, and templates. And, it’s why I will purposely be having you work on the five most common sample pieces clients ask for:

  1. Blog articles
  2. Marketing emails
  3. Product description pages
  4. Case studies
  5. Social media–sponsored posts (advertisements)

So when that question comes around, you can confidently say, “Sure — I have samples I can send you. Let me send them over right now.”

This alone can double your chances of landing a client.

Because most of your competition won’t have these five sample pieces ready.

Higher-Level Mentoring and Coaching

As you can see, it’s all here. Every detail you need to become a highly skilled B2B copywriter is in this LIVE training.

And keep in mind…

Throughout the entire 10-week program, you’ll have anytime access to me via the private Facebook group. If you’re stuck, have questions while you’re working on an assignment, or don’t understand something completely, simply post it on the special B2B Writing Apprentice Facebook group, and I promise to respond as promptly as possible.

And speaking of access…

All the support material I use throughout the training will be available to you on your myAWAI Member Page. Refer to it as often as you’d like. It’s all there to help “drill down” all this knowledge in ways that make it easy for you to absorb it.

And that support material includes dozens of brand-new and current examples of professional B2B components — every one of them market tested and proven to work in the real world. Many would argue that this alone is well worth the “price of admission,” as the saying goes…

That’s because not only will you have some of the most successful examples from top B2B campaigns that you can model your work after… but you’ll know the “backstory” about how many of those campaigns came to fruition!

By the way, if you can’t make a session — not a problem. All sessions will be recorded and cataloged on your B2B Writing Apprentice Member Page too, so you can log on and listen anytime… and as many times as you need!

You can take an hour here and there to reinforce the information that’s so crucial to your B2B success. So many AWAI members appreciate this readily available access to playbacks. Like Virginia Story, who recently told us…

“Surprisingly, I’m finding the recorded class even better than the live presentation because I can stop, review, and look up information right then, instead of trying to remember to do it later.”

Access to the B2B Online Library of Bonuses

I pride myself on helping writers succeed at mastering B2B copywriting. So I choose not to leave any stone unturned. That’s why in addition to the core training sessions and materials I’ve already outlined, and the practice assignments you’ll be able to turn in for feedback, I’ve also included a special library of online bonuses you’ll find extremely useful.

These bonuses are that little extra something that helps fine-tune your skills and B2B copywriting know-how. Here’s what you’ll receive:

And you can use the portfolio one-sheet worksheet to showcase your writing samples. It’s a nice way to organize your writing samples so clients can see at a glance the types of projects you’ve been trained to write.

One More Bonus:
A $497 Value Yours FREE

Secrets of Writing High-Performance Business-to-Business Copy Cover

Rebecca and I, along with all the folks at AWAI, are committed to your success as an expert-level B2B copywriter. So we’re including a very special bonus that takes this new training program to a whole new level of learning.

Remember earlier when I mentioned that I’ve been working with AWAI, creating programs to help writers understand how easy it is for them to transition into the B2B world of copywriting?

Well, with Rebecca’s permission and encouragement, I’m including full access to one of AWAI’s most popular programs, Modern B2B Copywriting (valued at $497).

Every industry… every niche has its share of secrets that only insiders know from their years of experience. Well, the same is true with B2B.

Except now we’re making them available to you FREE in Modern B2B Copywriting.

Armed with these industry secrets, you’ll have a crucial advantage… one you can use to win more writing assignments more often.

What kind of secrets will you learn? Here’s a sneak peek at what’s waiting for you in Modern B2B Copywriting:

The program spells out what you need to succeed at every step of the B2B process — from working with your client for the first time… to understanding the B2B selling process… to knowing what course of action you recommend your B2B client take to achieve their goals.

Again, this is all yours, a $497 value, absolutely free of charge.

How Much Does the B2B Training Program Cost?

So, at this point you may be wondering, what’s the cost of this hands-on coaching and mentoring — and how do you sign up to be one of the few writers who’ll be one of my newest apprentices?

Well, I think you’ll agree, B2B Writing Apprentice… with all the nuts and bolts of writing the most in-demand B2B projects… the five practice assignments with a chance to be handed one of five checks for $1,000, live training, and personal feedback on your writing samples, the client-getting strategies, along with the opportunity to receive a Certificate of Completion that shows you’ve mastered this unique training program… is a solid investment in yourself and your writing future.

PLUS — I’ll be looking for a few good writers I can put on my “shortlist” to potentially send any “overflow” clients to. If you stand out and I feel confident I could trust you to do a great job for the referrals I send your way, this alone could make the entire apprenticeship worth your while.

That is why I take our time working together very seriously… and know you will too. Because what you’re really getting in this training program is access to me and my decades of experience. It’s that kind of connection that has the potential to put you in a position to earn the kind of money I do as a professional B2B copywriter.

So after a few discussions with Rebecca, we’ve agreed a program this comprehensive and all-encompassing — and with me serving as your B2B mentor and writing coach — would be a great investment even if we were to charge $10,000.

And, with the demand for B2B writers at an all-time high and predicted to keep on growing, it’s possible to make that investment back with a handful of B2B writing assignments from your very first client… especially when you consider that the standard fee for writing a case study is up to $2,000, an email starts at $250, and a white paper is up to $10,000.

But since I’m on a mission to help create the next generation of B2B writers to keep up with the growing demand, it just doesn’t make sense to ask you to pay $10,000.

Then we reduced it to $5,000. And when you consider it’s possible to make that investment back once you’re up and running as a B2B writer, even asking you to pay $5,000 seems reasonable.

But Rebecca made it absolutely clear that price should never hold anyone back from learning a new career, especially one as lucrative as B2B copywriting.

So we agreed that $2,997 is a very fair price for a live program as comprehensive as B2B Writing Apprentice

But it gets even better…

Today, you can enroll in the training program at the deeply discounted price of just $1,997. That works out to just about $200 a session, which, when you think about the potential payoff, is a small investment in your freelance writing career.

You can even choose to take advantage of our no-penalty, easy payment plan option to break the registration fee into five payments.

Don’t forget too that when you enroll, you’ll also receive one of my most popular and comprehensive programs, Modern B2B Copywriting.

People who have studied that program have paid as much as $497. But you get it free of charge for accepting this invitation to enroll in B2B Writing Apprentice as one of my trained B2B copywriting protégés.

Your Satisfaction Is Guaranteed

If you’re interested in this apprenticeship at all, I urge you to sign up now to ensure you’re able to get a spot.

But I also don’t want you to feel like you’re risking something if you decide B2B writing isn’t for you…

So when you enroll, you’ll be covered by AWAI’s ironclad guarantee:

If after attending the first live training session held on Thursday, February 22, at 1 p.m. ET, you decide that B2B writing isn’t for you for any reason, simply call or email AWAI’s Member Success Team before the start of the second session and they’ll close out your registration and refund every penny you’ve paid. No questions asked.

Also, don’t forget — you have the chance to receive one of five checks in the amount of $1,000 as soon as your apprenticeship ends. Overall, I highly recommend Steve’s course and Steve as an instructor.”

— Michael Kearns

“Steve is both an incredible writer and a gifted teacher. His training was extremely easy to follow, laying out information in a step-by-step progression which allowed me, a complete novice to the world of copywriting, to quickly develop my skills and confidence. When you combine that with the rich content, highly motivating interaction, and personal feedback on homework assignments from the webinars, you get an unbeatable learning experience. I would recommend Steve’s training to anyone who wants to build a strong foundation of copywriting technique as well as gain real insight into the business of copywriting itself from the ultimate practitioner in the B2B copywriting world.”
