Why My Clients Have No Choice But to Hire Me
Where were you the last time Facebook rolled out changes?
If you said, “Which time?” you already know how often Facebook updates their look, feel, and functionality. I don’t think I’d even recognize the original site.
Many people get upset each time changes are implemented. But I love Facebook because it’s always fresh, with useful new features – and that keeps it interesting.
There’s another reason I love the Facebook changes (and I hope my clients aren’t reading this).
I love them because they make it necessary for my social media clients to keep me on board to manage their accounts.
Today’s myth is: “Social media is always changing, so I won’t be able to keep up.”
This myth is false because, for a social media expert, these changes take very little time to get used to because it’s what we do. Plus, you know where to go to quickly get up to date.
However, if you’re a business owner trying to handle your own social media, these changes are a nightmare. Keeping up takes precious time that a business owner just doesn’t have.
That’s why it’s such a great time to become a social media expert.
Think about this: each time Facebook – or any other social media platform – updates, you’ll have a whole new group of business owners turning to you and saying, “I just can’t keep up anymore, please do this for me!”
Even if you don’t want to dedicate your entire career to social media, it’s a great “arrow” to have in your quiver of services. As a copywriter, for example, I had plenty of clients ask me to start handling their social media strategy on top of the sales copy I was writing for them.
I don’t know about you, but if I have a loyal client who hires me often, I don’t want to turn them away for a service I could easily provide – even if it’s not in my typical “job description.”
It’s clear that I believe in the power of social media. And I don’t think it’s going anywhere.
But I want to hear from you. Comment below to let me know what you’ve learned so far this week. And tell me if you’ll be adding social media to the list of services you provide for your clients.
