Why You Need a Mentor

Last year, Rob, a former client of mine, got to do what many dream of.

He told his abusive boss of 10 years: “I quit. I’m going out on my own.”

It was possible because a little less than a year before that fateful day, he had started his own Internet business as a chicken entrepreneur, working in his off-hours. It was when the money streaming in had exceeded his six-figure salary that he decided to quit.

He tells me he feels less stress. He’s been able to take those family trips he also missed before. And be with aging family members when they fall ill. He’s excited about work (and loves his new boss – himself!). And taking the afternoon off is always a possibility. Yup … Rob is now a Carefree Entrepreneur.

I’m telling you Rob’s story because you could be just like him.

It began when he decided to start his own online business.

Rob is gung-ho about goal setting and self-development. So he focused his business on that passion. If you’re still struggling with finding a niche for your business, read this article for a step-by-step plan for finding a profitable topic.

But Rob’s corporate job didn’t involve running a business, any form of marketing, or anything on the Internet other than sending email.

Rob realized he needed help. He had a business in his mind but no idea how to follow through. He didn’t know how to attract customers online. He didn’t know what “systems” were out there to help him manage his business – let alone how to use them. He didn’t know how to pick a profitable market and create information products to cater to those customers.

So he found mentors to help him. They taught him what he didn’t know. And they showed him things he didn’t even know were possible.

Rob enrolled in the Internet Money Club, a coaching program that teaches aspiring online entrepreneurs how to start a business from the ground up.

As a result, Rob’s learning curve in online marketing, product creation, website building, and all that rest was vastly reduced. He didn’t have to worry about making costly mistakes that many new entrepreneurs make. And he was able to capitalize on techniques that had already been tested and worked, as taught in the program.

Armed with this knowledge, he applied it. He built a website, got his name “out there,” and grew his email list of leads and customers. He developed products and hosted webinars. He put together marketing partnerships with people he had once idolized. And, as I said, within a year of joining IMC, he was making six figures.

Rob credits the level of his success and the speed at which it happened to the fact that he had the benefit of other successful entrepreneurs’ experience every step of the way.

Finding Your Own Mentor

No matter what type of Carefree Business you’d like to pursue, there’s a mentor who can help you vastly reduce your learning curve, avoid the “newbie” mistakes, and decrease the time it takes for you to start making money.

So, what kind of mentor is right for you?

You want help with starting a business and need entrepreneurship-oriented mentorship. Since your business will be online, you also need help with Internet marketing. You need a mentor who:

  • Knows what’s working today as far as marketing, products – not stale tactics and strategies.
  • Is able to put everything into layman’s terms and break them into simple action steps. And he or she knows the online tools to make everything easier.
  • Has plenty of success of their own – been there, done that many times. So he or she will have a repeatable, proven “system” to share with you.
  • Won’t do things for you – but show you the way. A good mentor knows that the foundation of your business depends on it.
  • Knows the roadblocks you might encounter and can help you overcome them. In fact, since your mentor has been in your shoes, he or she will be able to anticipate the problem areas and beginner mistakes very early … so you can avoid them altogether.
  • Is honest and ready to dispense “tough love.” If your business idea won’t be profitable, he or she should tell you and help you tweak it or come up with another one that still matches one of your passions in life.
  • Is also there to motivate you when you just need a little “push” to get working.

I’d like you to meet an expert who fits the bill. He’s had the entrepreneurial bug his whole life.

But it wasn’t until he went online that he was able to make a living and then some. And he developed his first online businesses on a shoestring budget … while working full time. So he understands what you are going through.

His name is Brian Edmondson, and he runs the program I mentioned earlier, the Internet Money Club.

IMC takes you from nothing (no website, no business or marketing experience) to a fully functioning, money-making online business in just six months. In fact, you’ll have your business’s website up in just a month – even if you’ve never done anything but surf the web before.

Brian is with you every step of the way.

Twice a month, he hosts webinars in which you can “look over his shoulder” as he does market research, creates websites, builds email lists, finds affiliate products to sell, and more. You can follow along “click for click.”

But this teaching is just the start. There is plenty of personalized attention.

The week after each webinar – that’s two times a month – Brian will host a live Q&A, in which you can call in and ask any question you have to help you move forward. Plus, Brian is available for one-on-one advice and help at any time – you will have his email address. You’ll even get to meet him in person during a trip to the AWAI offices for an IMC members–only mastermind event, in which he troubleshoots your business from top to bottom.

Of course, to get you started off right, IMC has plenty of resources geared toward beginners.

You’ll get strategy guides to help you prepare for each webinar, detailing things like market research, email marketing, search engine optimization, and the like. Plus, you can go back to them again and again for reference.

Plus, you’ll hear directly from other experts in online business. These are people working today in the industry. And they share their latest “tricks of the trade” on video or in exclusive interviews with Brian.

Herschell Gordon Lewis talks about copywriting, for example. Bob Bly shares his tactics for successful online marketing campaigns. And Michael Masterson shows you how leverage the growing information publishing market. And that’s just a small taste.

All these elements come together to form a comprehensive program designed to work with your schedule and at your pace. Start from scratch, follow the steps, and by the end you will have a fully functional online business that will just keep growing. Then like Rob or Brian, you’ll be able to say “adios” to your day job and slip into the comfortable life of a Carefree Entrepreneur.

And you’ll be there much faster than if you had decided to go it on your own. The best way to succeed in any venture is with somebody who’s been there before.

At Carefree Entrepreneur, we want to be that helping hand and hook you up with mentors that will help you meet your goals. If you want to create an online business, I can think of no better mentor than Brian Edmondson and no better program than the Internet Money Club.

IMC is only accepting members for its new class for a limited time. Go here to get all the details.
