The Golden Ticket of Copywriting
The other day, a total and complete stranger emailed me.
No introduction. No forewarning.
But it didn’t matter. We had something really wonderful that tied us together.
“Hey Joshua,” he wrote, “In 2005, I bought AWAI’s copywriting program. I still don’t have a client. I haven’t made a dime yet … But, of course, I never opened it up!”
I smiled when I read that. And almost cried.
It made me think of that famous Wall Street Journal letter – “Two Young Men.” I couldn’t help compare my life … my lifestyle … my freedoms … my income … with this stranger.
What a difference 6 years can make. But what made the difference?
Today, I live a lifestyle that puts me in the top 2% income earners of this country. Just yesterday, I was trying to explain to some people from church what I do for work, how I work from home, and how I can devote so much time to my family and the other things that I really love in life.
They didn’t get it. But they tried to be polite and smile and nod their heads like they did … That made me smile too.
It’s OK. Very, very few people on this planet of jobs and stress and financial worry “get it.”
But I want you to “get it” … emotionally, financially, spiritually, physically. You deserve to finally “get it.”
To do that, you need to claim your Golden Ticket.
It’s waiting for you.
Actually, you already have it inside of you. You just don’t know it.
It’s been there for years. You’ve lost tens of thousands of dollars and missed out on the richest friendships life has to offer because you overlooked it.
You see, the Golden Ticket of Copywriting is the one thing that made all the difference for me. It is the thing that kept me going through the tough times. It allowed me to almost magically attract clients for all these years.
That wonderful Golden Ticket opened doors for me that were totally shut to others. It allowed large checks to be sent to my mailbox and deposited in my account time and time again.
This Golden Ticket had me laughing in 2008 when the banking and real estate industries crashed and crushed so many people. I’m still oblivious to the “down economy.” What does it matter? I have the Golden Ticket … an income stream that never fails, never fades, and never falters.
Life is definitely not fair.
Tiny things make all the difference. As they say, big doors swing on small hinges, huge ships are controlled by tiny rudders, and all that. It’s true.
You might have looked at someone like me or Bob Bly or Nick Usborne and thought, “I could never be as good as those guys. I could never have that kind of lifestyle.”
But it is not true.
If you claimed your Golden Ticket, you could easily do it. If you just made use of this one little, tiny thing, you could have it all.
That’s how all of us – every super-successful copywriter – made the leap. It’s how we “get it.” It’s how we enjoy life at an extraordinary level. We all use this one thing – and it makes all the difference.
What is the Golden Ticket of Copywriting?
This October, in very simple terms, I’m going to fully detail the Golden Ticket for everyone that comes to the 2011 FastTrack to Copywriting Success Bootcamp and Job Fair.
If you’re in the room that day, you’ll be able to claim your Golden Ticket. It will be a game-changer.
For example, do you know Jay White’s story?
He was basically a copywriting nobody – the start all of us had. Struggling to find clients. Struggling to make money. Just flat out struggling. I’ve been there. It’s not fun. Painful for everyone.
But one day, he was sitting in a hotel foyer at an event and this guy named Alex Mandossian sat down next to him. Alex is a legend in online marketing.
Just minutes before, Jay had discovered the Golden Ticket inside of himself. Finding the Golden Ticket always makes you naturally bold and courageous. It flows.

And what about my dear friend Pam Foster?
I can still see the frustration and anguish in Pam’s face as we sat across the table from each other. She wanted to know the “secret” to my copywriting business. She was running herself totally ragged. She’d been through all the courses and dozens of events … but she still hadn’t claimed her Golden Ticket.
So, all the rest was great stuff … but until she claimed that magic Ticket, she couldn’t activate all the skills, talents, and abilities locked inside of her. It was driving her totally nuts.
Today, she is the leading copywriter in her niche. She’s in such high demand that she keeps turning down clients and raising her fees. But her clients don’t care. They want more.
I know that you might be thinking that these are silly stories and so typical of rags to riches.
But they are all true. You can choose to dismiss them. You can choose to think I’m kinda funny for talking about Golden Tickets and such.
But I’ve been obsessed with discovering the one thing that makes a difference with winning and losing copywriters for over six years now. Believe me, this Golden Ticket is very real. It changes everything.
And, like I said … you already have it inside of you.
But I want you to notice something … Sean, Pam, and Jay all discovered their Golden Ticket at a live event. I wish I could just hand it to you now. But for some reason, that’s not possible.
The magic of discovery only seems to happen face to face. The door gets unlocked during events.
I personally claimed my Golden Ticket at an AWAI event with Bob Bly. Eleven months later, I was making a strong six figures writing for Sony, Corel, Toshiba, and other massive companies.
That trend continues today … Just this past week, I got a call from the Chief Communications Officer of Nestle (they’re the largest food company in the world, just in case you didn’t know). He called for no other reason than because I have my Golden Ticket and I keep it polished and shiny.
I know from experience that tens of thousands of people will read this article and turn away, do nothing, and go on with life. But I’m not talking to them.
I’m talking to you.

Times are tough for a lot of people, but that doesn’t have to be you.
Life is sad and full of stress for millions, but why should you participate?

Friends, neighbors, associates of yours are negative, complaining, and wallowing in the mire of mediocrity, but, seriously, is that where you want to be?
The happiest news of my life was the day I discovered my inner Golden Ticket. The smartest day of my life is when I claimed it. The wealthiest day of my life is when I used it.
Sometime during the afternoon of October 27, 2011, in the Delray Beach Marriott Ballroom, I’m going to take the stage. Over the next 90 minutes or so, I will turn the key for a relatively small group of copywriters. I will hand them their Golden Ticket.
I believe you deserve to be in that room. Someone will be there and their lives will change forever.
