Say This and Land a New Client
It’s the easiest way to land a new client: writing autoresponder emails.
And a few weeks ago I showed you, what I believed at the time, to be the best way to pitch a client, making the decision to hire you a complete no-brainer for them.
Then yesterday I met with Michael Masterson, and of course he put a spin on it that makes the proposal even stronger …
Here’s the excerpt from my original email:
“The pay is unbelievable. Even as a complete novice you can charge $100 to $250 per email in the series. And once you get good, you can easily ask for $500 and up.
And as an online marketer, I’m happy to pay it.
Because if you think about it, it’s basically risk-free for me …
Let’s say I hire you to write an auto-responder series selling AWAI’s new and improved Accelerated Six-Figure Copywriting Program.
That full program normally costs $457.
Even if you charge me $400 for an email, I only have to sell one copy of the program to breakeven.
And I’ve yet to send out an email that doesn’t at least sell ONE copy of something.
Wow, look at that …
I think I just wrote your pitch for the next potential client you reach out to.”
Even after reading it again, it’s definitely a solid argument in favor of taking a chance on you.
But to take it to the next level, Michael suggests you say this to your next prospective client:
“I’ll make this 100% risk-free for you …
Hire me to write this email for you, and I won’t charge you my normal $400 fee.
Instead, give me 100% of your 2nd sale.
That way you’re guaranteed to breakeven.”
Of course if you really want to get them, and you’re confident in your email writing skills, you can really hit it out of the park by adding:
“Heck, make it your 5th sale!”
What marketer is going to turn down that kind of offer?
And if the product costs less than $400, simply revise the pitch and say:
“Instead, pay me half of the first $800 you make.”
I actually toyed with the idea of keeping this idea a secret, and giving it away to people who bought AWAI’s new Autoresponder Apprentice program.
I can’t help it; it’s the marketer in me!
But I hate knowing that I have a piece of information that could make it that much easier for you to land your next client.
And writing autoresponder emails is the perfect way to get started making money from your copywriting!
Along with being your “in” to any client …
- You can write each email in under an hour.
- You can make $100 to $250 per email as a novice, and $500 and up as a professional.
- And there are typically anywhere from 3 to 7 emails in each series. Sometimes more!

Hi, Rebecca. I get so much good information from The Golden Thread and the Wealthy Webwriter. So thanks for that and keep em coming. Regarding today's article, what's an autoresponder email? And how come sales e-letters are so long? I don't want to read all that stuff. Do other people?
Appreciate your response. Thanks.

Thanks for the compliment!
An autoresponder email is an email that is automatically sent to to someone after they opt-in to an email list, or make a purchase.
Typically there are multiple emails that get sent over a set amount of time (an autoresponder series), that ultimately drive the person towards their next action.
If you’ve ever signed up to receive email from a company, you’ve probably received one!
As for email length, that is one debate that has been going on for a long time. However in all of our testing we've found that both lengths work, and when used together the end results are higher. And that's why you'll see both long and short emails come from AWAI.
Hope that helps!
Rebecca
