- There are an estimated 600,000 businesses in the United States offering professional services either to individuals or to other businesses. They make $600 billion in sales annually. The two largest segments are legal services and engineering services.
- Information technology is another strong business services sector. Spending on IT has been growing steadily and at a stronger rate than the economy. In the past year, spending on IT services went up 4%.
- Advertising and marketing companies also offer business services. Companies spend more than $150 billion annually to advertise their products and services.
- There were 1,014 business service mailings tracked by the Who’s Mailing What! Archive and 110 mailers.
