Let a Template Speed You Through Your Copywriting
During their presentation at this year's Bootcamp, Mike Palmer and Paul Hollingshead shared a great suggestion for saving time.
Their hint? Use a self-designed template.
Here's how to do it:
- Find a successful promotion in the same niche as the one you're writing for – one that is similar to what you want your package to be like.
- Mark each component of the successful package – kicker copy, headline, sub-headline, lead, proof, return to the golden thread (several times), false close, close, offer, guarantee, premium, call to action.
- Use the template as a guide for positioning each copy component in your package and determining approximately how long each section should be.
- Don't let the template completely constrain you. For example, if the lead in the template copy is 1 page long, yours can be a little longer or shorter. But if the length of your copy varies too significantly from the template, go back and figure out why it is so different. Shorten or lengthen your copy as appropriate.
