Quick Tip:
How Giving Your Services Away Will Make You a Success

When selling their services, freelancers often forget that prospective copywriting clients are like all prospects everywhere: They love to get something for free. So if you’re smart, you’ll boost your response to your self promotional efforts by tapping into the power of premiums.

How do you use the power of premiums to “boost response” from your copywriting clients? Here’s one idea: Offer to do a little bit extra … without charging for it.

For example, I recently convinced a good client to go with a magalog instead of the simple #10 promotion they were planning. And I cinched the deal by offering to do a second assignment they had for me at no charge.

Did I lose money on that second assignment? Not at all. I knew it wouldn’t take more than 5 hours for me to complete. Meanwhile, throwing it in as a freebie helped me land that much-more-lucrative magalog project.

I got this idea from AWAI Board Member Jay Abraham’s book “Getting Everything You Can Out of All You’ve Got.” The book gives you a peek into Jay’s marketing genius and the strategies that have made him a colossal success … and have made his clients hundreds of millions of dollars.
