Quick Tip: When Should You Use a Semicolon?
A semicolon (;) is used to join two independent clauses in one sentence. What that really means is that you then have two sentences melded into one.
For example: “I am sure you will enjoy Super-Forex; it’s a first-rate widget cleaner.”
When should you use a semicolon in your copy? Never!
There’s never a reason to use semicolons in promotional copy. When editing your work, if you’ve used a semicolon, get rid of it and make two shorter sentences out of the longer one.
“I am sure you will enjoy Super-Forex. It’s a first-rate widget cleaner.”
