Hello Scott,
My whole world just opened up!
Last night, I e-mailed old ads from DirectResponseJobs.com. I set up a “Search Agent” and contacted the ones I was interested in. Someone got back to me immediately, and agreed to look at my samples!
I nearly fainted!
Then, tonight, I checked my emails again … and, wham! Someone else had offered me a shot! She said she needed some articles, a letter on space travel, and some other things.
Last, but not least …
The most recognized B&B in Port Townsend, Washington agreed to let me do a spec brochure! I wrote the copy in 30 minutes, and the owner loved it! (It helped that I stayed there for five days this past summer.) Five days later, they emailed me back and told me to get moving on the rest of the copy … because they were moving ahead with the brochure!
This last client is incredibly important in terms of travel in my area. With her reference, I’ll be loaded with assignments!

I wanted to share this little trick with you.
I find it especially helpful when I’m writing a long letter … where I have to write the name of the package or product over and over again. It’s the Auto-Text function in Microsoft Word.
Here’s all you have to do:
- Copy the word, phrase, or sentence that you wish to repeat.
- Next, click on the Insert tab on the Toolbar at the top of your screen.
- Click “Auto-Text,” and then “New.”
- A small box will appear on your screen: “Create Auto Text.” In the rectangular text box, paste your word, phrase, or sentence.
- Click “Okay,” and you are done.
Now, here’s how it works:
Say your product is called the “Acme Super-Duper Painless Polisher.” Now, any time you write the word “Acme,” Auto Text recognizes the phrase and offers, via a small yellow box, to provide the rest. If you want it, all you have to do is click your “Enter” key.
If you type fast, Word will offer to provide the rest fast. And it will save you loads of time. And if you type slowly, it will save you even more time.
