From The Golden Thread Mailbag …
Bootcamp 2005
I want to take a moment to say a few words about 2005’s "FastTrack to Success Bootcamp." Our Bootcamps have gotten better every year … and this one was no exception.
There were too many standout features to mention in this small space, but here are a few of my favorites: our returning friends from last year … the special orientation for first-time attendees … and the presentations from such legends as Brian Tracy, Herschell Gordon Lewis, Clayton Makepeace, and Jay Abraham. Most importantly, there were even more spec assignments than ever at the Job Fair.
There’s a lot of chatter on the AWAI member forum at www.awaistudents.com, under Bootcamp 2005, that you ought to take a look at. And for the full account of what happened at Bootcamp, you can order the complete Bootcamp in Your Home package. This is something that everyone who is serious about becoming a copywriter should have. Order yours at: http://www.awaionline.com/bootcampinyourhome/.
Now, I’m going to turn the Mailbag over to the Bootcamp attendees so you can hear what they had to say about the even in their own words:
"I wanted to take a quick moment and thank you all for putting on such a great Bootcamp! If I didn’t fully realize it before, I certainly know it now that AWAI is a first-class organization that truly cares about enriching the lives of its customers. I was so impressed with your staff, the content of the conference, the speakers, and the facility you chose."
"This year’s Bootcamp was my first – and I must say it was fantastic. I applaud all the speakers. The wealth of information they shared was great. And the way AWAI took care of us, from the exercise routines and yoga to keeping us well fed to the program materials to the accommodations, was beyond expectations. All in all, a hearty Well Done! I’m looking forward to attending again next year."
My expectations for the Graphic Design Bootcamp were that I’d learn loads, get psyched up, be exhausted by the end, and meet plenty of eager copywriters and artists and generous seminar leaders. I was not disappointed in any of those expectations.
What I did not go expecting, however, even though I’ve read these stories in The Golden Thread, was to walk away with a paid assignment from this Bootcamp.
But, I did. And it was easy to get. I just talked to the copywriters I’d met, who talked to others I hadn’t met, who needed graphic designers to lay out logos…you get the picture.
Go ahead. Expect it all. It happens.
Thanks to one and all. Keep those emails coming!
