Quick Tip:
A 3-Part Yoga Exercise to Enhance Creativity
Your brain depends on good circulation through your entire body to function well. The following 3-part yoga exercise will improve your circulation and increase your creativity by feeding your brain the oxygen and nutrients it needs. It’ll also help keep your spine flexible, condition and strengthen your back muscles, and tone and firm your abdominal muscles.
A few cautionary words: (1) Don’t do this exercise if you suffer from epilepsy. (2) If you feel any pinching in your lower back, stop. That means you have pushed too far.
The Table
Get on all fours, hands underneath your shoulders and knees underneath your hips. If your knees feel uncomfortable, place a folded towel under them. Keep your arms strong and straight, don’t sag in the shoulders, and don’t overextend your elbows. (If you have to bend your elbows, bend them sideways.) Now, with your hands flat on the floor, fingers wide, look forward … and inhale.
From The Table, go immediately into …
The Cat
Exhale. Round your back upward, pull in your tummy, drop your chin to your chest, round your shoulders, and push your hips forwars. Press your upper back to the ceiling.
From The Cat, go immediately into …
The Dog
Inhale. Drop your stomach, arch your back downward by raising your tailbone and head up toward the ceiling, and, pressing your chest down toward the floor, look up.
Repeat.
To get the most out of this exercise, do it slowly and deliberately with good, deep breathing.
