Understanding PDF Files

As a copywriter, you probably won’t be expected to produce PDF documents, but there is a good chance you’ll be expected to read them. Because many of your clients will send you the final version of a promotion you’ve written – complete with all the illustrations and formatting – as a PDF document.

But what is a PDF document? What do you do with it?

"PDF" stands for Portable Document Format. It’s a file format that was developed by Adobe so people could read finished files from almost word processor or graphic design program and from just about any computer platform (Windows, Unix, Mac).

In order to read a PDF file, all you need to do is download Adobe’s FREE Acrobat Reader from:
