Studies have shown that the emotions you feel while you communicate affect how effectively you accomplish your task by as much as 55%! This means that when you write or design for direct mail, the way you feel has a significant impact on how well your prospect receives your promotion.

Before you sit down to write or design direct mail, make sure you’re feeling positive and receptive. If you’re not and try to hide your true feelings when you write, your prospect will sense a problem …and you may lose a sale.

If you’re not feeling positive, shake off those negative emotions by moving your body. Go for a walk, stretch for several minutes, take a shower – or do whatever it takes to recharge your emotional batteries. When you do, you’ll be a more effective communicator … and you’ll pull far better responses to your promotions.
