Quick Tip:
Peter Beutel on Getting Clients

Recently, we asked AWAI Board Member Peter Beutel for advice on how to get clients. Here's what he had to say:

"I follow the basic philosophy that you must give more than you get. After all, your client will be happy to pay you if you make him money – hopefully many times the money that your services cost him.

"Early in my career, I studied potential clients' direct mail packages and then composed long memos, unsolicited, that offered good ideas on how to improve their current packages. Eventually, a customer saw the benefit in something I had sent him and hired me.

"Many times it is better to tweak an existing package than to start with a totally new one. It's cost-effective because it rejuvenates a campaign that has proven success already."
