Masters Student Rich Silver Tells Exactly How He Got His Foot In the Door of Mutual of Omaha
Inspired by ETR Messages #265 ("Start Your Little Black Book of Powerful Contacts") and #270 ("How to Use Your Little Black Book"), Masters student Rich Silver made a phone call that jump-started his copywriting career.
Below, Rich tells us how it happened …
"I got in touch with my Mutual of Omaha insurance agent and told him I was a copywriter. He told me he could really use some marketing help. As a freebie (to possibly open some doors), I wrote a sales letter for him that he was thrilled with. He showed it to the Mutual of Omaha district sales manager for Oregon and Washington. The manager thought it was great and wanted to meet me. As a result of that meeting, I'm now writing a sales letter for him targeting people with diabetes.
"The manager also put my name in front of the head of marketing for Mutual of Omaha nationwide. She wants to see my diabetes sales letter – and if she likes it, she may have me help write copy for various nationwide marketing campaigns they have coming up."
